Ibstock Bowls Club About

A BRIEF HISTORY OF IBSTOCK BOWLS CLUB.

Ibstock Bowls Club was founded in 1929, initially for the benefit of local miners and their family. A green was established on land purchased by the coal board, alongside the Miners Welfare building that was built in 1930. The club continues to play on this green to this day.

As years have progressed the club has evolved in many ways. The club was initially set up as a male only club but is now a mixed club, welcoming members from all walks of life. The club now operates from its own club house, which has its own bar where we can offer hospitality to our opponents as well as a venue for our social events that run throughout the year.

The teams we operate.

The club enters teams in the Hinckley & District League (Monday evenings, two teams), Coalville & District Over 60s League (Tuesday afternoons, two teams) and the Coalville & District League (Thursday evenings, three teams). In addition we have a full schedule of friendlies on every Saturday afternoon and occasional Wednesday evenings. This range of teams allow the club to offer scope for competitive  bowlers, as well as social bowlers.

In addition the club have roll ups on Wednesday mornings (10am - midday) and Friday evening's (4.15pm - 6.30pm).
